CATSMO SMOKEHOUSE Wallkill, NY (12589) location

Smokehouse Production (full-time position)

Production workers to assist in smoking salmon in our smokehouse facility. Food processing workers to perform routine tasks involved in manufacturing and/or processing smoked salmon. Can be placed in all aspects of manufacturing of smoked salmon: salting, cleaning, slicing, assembly line, and packing. Production workers must be comfortable working with raw and smoked fish. Must be able to maintain focus while carrying out repetitive tasks.

Please note:
• This is a refrigerated area so must be able to work in the cold and be on your feet for 8+ hours a day
• Production or warehouse experience a plus
• Must have weekend availability

Labeler (full-time position)

Assembling and gathering boxes and stocking items as needed. Communicate with packing staff to determine what needs to be labeled that day with time frame of completion. Must be able to focus while doing repetitive tasks and keep track of the correct customer, batch, and expiration date. Keep a clean and tidy work area. Palletizing boxes/orders for delivery the next day. Assisting in other areas as needed.

• At times will need to lift boxes up to 70 lbs
• Production or warehouse experience a plus

Production Cleaner (full-time position)

Cleaning and sanitizing per Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) of smokehouse production space and other areas of facility. Includes floors, walls, and equipment etc. Cleaning and sanitizing of racks, trays, and utensils. Taking apart machinery, such as slicers, to clean the parts and the entire machines themselves. Sanitation in other areas as needed.

Operations Manager (full-time position)

Evaluate current operations and make suggestions on how to improve our production process to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve our delivery service.

• Identify and track key performance indicators for each stage of production
• Conduct studies to discover ways to improve the efficiency of production processes
• Prepare periodic reports to update upper management on food production and measure activities/productivity performance
• Set production objectives and implement action plans for achieving set targets
• Create work shifts to ensure round-the-clock food production operations
• Make recommendations to management for overall improvements to processes, systems, and staffing

Day-to-day operations

• Monitor every aspect of production to ensure compliance with established procedures and standards
• Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials and finished products
• Oversee the hiring and training of food production personnel
• Ensure manufacturing and processing staff wear appropriate sanitary and protective gear to ensure health and safety standards are met
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of production equipment to ensure smooth operation
• Assign tasks to production staff according to their specialization and history
• Train new employees

Hiring requirements, training and experience in the following areas

• Bachelor’s degree in areas of food science, food technology, or manufacturing/engineering, or in a similar discipline
• Prior experience in a food manufacturing/operations including factory planning, operations improvement, and quality/compliance management
• Experience as a food production technician
• Management skills in directing and coordinating the activities of food production personnel to ensure efficient operations. Manager with 5-8 years of experience
• Time-management skills to achieve production targets within set time frame
• Decision-making skills and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge about the implementation and operation of ERP and manufacturing systems. Understanding of designing and developing KPIs for production management
